TEFL COURSE INTEGRATED WITH TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test)
At Vancouver Language Centre we provide you with everything you need to open the door to a rewarding and challenging career in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Unlike other language schools we guarantee that your program will be a quality learning experience. A time when you study and practice the art of teaching English to non-speakers. Our classes are arranged so that you can receive top quality preparation from internationally experienced teachers. Our TEFL teachers bring with them the experience of teaching ESL around the world, to different and diverse cultures.

During your four-week course you will study the ‘theory’ of teaching and language development. You will hone your personal grammar skills to the highest level in an environment that is designed to provide you with all the support and nurturing your need to succeed. Each day you receive 4 hours of classroom preparation, you will study:

• Effective teaching strategies
• Fundamentals of learning and classroom management
• How to maximize your students time to reach their learning goals
• Develop teaching materials and how to make use of classroom aids such as Television, CD, DVD, Video, overhead projectors and the white board.
• Making classroom manipulatives (learning tools)
• You will study and master

Teaching methodologies
Creating assessment tools
Oral communication techniques
Developing listening strategies
Pronounciation methods

Additionally you will observe and interact with ‘real world’ students. For an additional four hours a day you will interact with you professional ‘mentor’ teachers (2) who will guide and support you throughout your classroom experience. Within the first week you will be teaching students in two different classes.

In the subsequent weeks you will apply those skills, develop your abilities to manage a classroom, work in groups and individually. Each week teaching for longer periods of time until in your third week you are teaching two, whole 2 hour grammar and conversation classes.

By the end of your training program you will be confident and comfortable in the classroom. Between your professional and seasoned mentor teachers as well as your TEFL teacher you will be ready to venture out into the world of real life teaching.

At the end of the course, successful students will be offered job placement.
