Teaching Business English Elective Course

VEC Business Internship Program - English Language Courses at Vancouver English Centre

Conducting business in English is mandatory for many second language speakers. Simply learning basic English grammar and speaking skills is not enough for the executive who works in the global marketplace.


Course Objective:

To provide the skills necessary for teaching English and international business affairs to executives. This elective is designed to be taken after completion of the TEFL Certificate Program.

  • Needs analysis
  • Marketing research and promotion
  • Business writing skills, letter writing, and internationally accepted resumes
  • Management skills
  • Intercultural communications
  • International banking and money
  • Comparing business practices internationally
  • Telephone skills
  • Conducting business meetings in English
  • Negotiating Skills
  • Business idioms
  • Case study work
  • Classroom observations and practicum


TBE Elective Course Prerequisites:

TEFL Certificate Program, or previous TEFL certification or experience.


Course Duration:

4-weeks, course for a total of 40 hours of instruction and observation time.
This course can be combined with the TEC elective (Teaching English to Children) and/or Spanish Language classes.
